All Teaching Artists will have as their primary focus mentoring the Intern or Interns assigned to them, to give them the skills and support needed for them to succeed in their parts of the project.
The Set Design Mentor will be responsible to work with the Intern to design a simple, portable set with minimal lighting features (the performance is not scheduled to be performed in a theatre.) within the limits of a small budget and pending donations. The Mentor will teach the Intern skills needed to be able to design the set. The Set Design Mentor will also work with the Set Construction Intern, the Lighting Intern, and the Set Artists Interns. The Mentor will supervise the obtaining of materials necessary for the set. The Set Design Mentor will need to have basic carpentry skills in order to teach the building of portable elements, such as wooden boxes, platforms, and frames to hold background art (or offer alternatives).
The Set Design Mentor will collaborate with the Costume Design Mentor on a basic design workshop to be held in the first week of the project.
